🌊 Ocean Breathing: Finding Calm with the Rhythm of the Waves

This exercise uses the imagery of the ocean to help you release stress and return to a steady, peaceful flow of breath.

1. Settle in.

Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Imagine you’re near the sea — the gentle sound of waves rolling in and out.

2. Inhale: The wave rises. Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of four. Feel the breath building, like a smooth wave lifting toward its crest.

3. Pause: The wave pauses. Hold your breath softly for a count of two. Notice the stillness at the top of the breath, just before it turns.

4. Exhale: The wave recedes. Breathe out through your mouth for a count of six, letting go of tension as the wave flows back to the shore.

5. Repeat. Continue this rhythm — in for four, hold for two, out for six — for five to ten cycles. With each breath, picture the ocean washing away any tightness or worry, leaving you calm and refreshed.

6. Return. When you’re ready, take one more deep breath and open your eyes, carrying that ocean calm with you.
