Accessibility Statement

My Commitment to Accessibility
I am committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming and accessible counselling service where everyone feels respected, valued and supported.

I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to access counselling in a way that meets their individual needs, regardless of disability, health condition, neurodivergence or personal circumstances.

I recognise that each person's needs and experiences are unique, and I aim to make reasonable adjustments wherever possible to ensure that counselling is accessible, comfortable and supportive.

1. Accessibility of My Counselling Services
I understand that accessing counselling can sometimes present practical, physical, emotional or communication-related challenges.
I aim to create a supportive and flexible environment by considering individual accessibility needs and discussing reasonable adjustments where appropriate.
Depending on your circumstances and the services available, adjustments may include:
  • Offering online or telephone counselling sessions where appropriate.
  • Providing information in alternative formats where reasonably possible.
  • Adapting communication styles to meet individual needs.
  • Allowing additional time to process information or ask questions where practical.
  • Discussing sensory needs, communication preferences or other accessibility requirements.
  • Making reasonable adjustments to the counselling process to support individual circumstances.
I encourage clients to share any accessibility needs they feel comfortable discussing so that we can explore suitable arrangements together.
You are not required to disclose a diagnosis to request an accessibility adjustment.

2. Website Accessibility
I aim to make my website as accessible and easy to use as reasonably possible.
My goal is to ensure that visitors can find information about my counselling services, understand the support available and contact me without unnecessary barriers.
I aim to support accessibility through:
  • Clear, straightforward and easy-to-understand language.
  • Readable text and a consistent website layout.
  • Clear headings and logical navigation.
  • Appropriate colour contrast where possible.
  • Compatibility with different screen sizes, including mobile phones and tablets.
  • Accessible contact information and enquiry options.
I recognise that accessibility is an ongoing process and will continue to review and improve my website wherever reasonably possible.
I have not yet formally assessed the website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), so I cannot confirm full compliance with a particular WCAG standard.

3. Reasonable Adjustments
In accordance with the principles of the Equality Act 2010, I am committed to considering reasonable adjustments for disabled clients.
I understand that accessibility needs can vary significantly between individuals and that adjustments should be considered on a case-by-case basis.
If you have specific accessibility requirements, please contact me before booking or at any stage during our counselling work.
I will be happy to discuss your needs and explore what adjustments may be possible within my practice.
Where I am unable to provide a particular adjustment or service, I will aim to communicate this sensitively and, where appropriate, discuss alternative options.

4. Accessibility and Inclusion
I am committed to providing a counselling environment that respects diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination.
I aim to ensure that clients are treated fairly and respectfully regardless of disability, age, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation or other protected characteristics.
My approach is informed by the ethical principles of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
I recognise the importance of listening to individual experiences and avoiding assumptions about a person's abilities, identity or needs.

5. Feedback and Accessibility Concerns
I welcome feedback about the accessibility of my website and counselling services.
If you experience any difficulties accessing information, using my website or engaging with my counselling services, please let me know.
I will take accessibility concerns seriously and consider what improvements or reasonable adjustments may be appropriate.
Contact email: two_chairs_therapy@outlook.com
When contacting me, you are welcome to explain the difficulty you have experienced and any adjustments that may help.
I will aim to respond to accessibility enquiries within 5 working days.

6. Ongoing Improvements
I recognise that accessibility is not a one-time achievement but an ongoing commitment.
I will continue to review the accessibility of my counselling services, communication methods and website, taking account of client feedback, relevant guidance and developments in good practice.
My aim is to reduce unnecessary barriers and provide a counselling experience where clients feel safe, respected and able to participate fully.

7. Review of This Statement
This Accessibility Statement will be reviewed regularly and updated when necessary to reflect changes to my services, website or relevant accessibility guidance.
